It’s time once again for another Music Monday post! It’s freebie week over at Dolly’s, so my selection today is an older song that I haven’t heard in a while. But it popped up during a recent random shuffle (like so many of my freebie choices have here lately). It’s not one of their better known songs, but in my opinion, it is one of their best. And I love it, even if it’s sad. The lyrics may be sad and ring a bit too true at times, but I love the sound of it.
Velvet Revolver – “Fall To Pieces”
What are YOU listening to this week?
Now it’s time for the Battle of the Bands, a twice-monthly blog hop hosted by Stephen T. McCarthy. On the 1st and 15th of each month, participating bloggers choose two covers of the same song and pit them against one another in a “battle”, and their readers choose the winner by listening to both versions and voting for their favorite in the comments. Some bloggers only participate on either the 1st or the 15th. I participate both times, most of the time. On the 7th and the 21st, the votes are tallied and a winner announced in a separate post.
I actually had both Saturday and Sunday off this weekend, which made it a very productive AND relaxing weekend for me. I managed to get a lot done, and polish it off with an ice cold beer. Why don’t y’all have a virtual beer with me? For this mid-month Battle, I have chosen two songs which are not covers, but in which the theme is beer. Perfect for an almost summer weekend, don’t you think?
First up is
ZZ Top – “Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers”
Kenny Chesney – “Beer in Mexico”
Take a listen to both videos (but try not to be influenced by the video itself), decide which one you like better, and cast your vote in the comments. I’ll be back on the 21st to total the votes and declare the winner.
Now…are YOU gonna raise hell with ZZ Top or have a beer in Mexico with Kenny?
