Music Monday for 07.20.2020

We are currently entering the New Moon phase, and the theme for this week’s Monday’s Music Moves Me is “Songs about, or mentioning, the Moon.” I’m going to attempt to give you a playlist of songs that you maybe haven’t heard before, or at least haven’t heard that often.

Except for the first one. Everybody’s heard the first one.

Duran Duran – “New Moon On Monday”
(I’d say this is the most appropriate use of a song I’ve had for a theme since I started participating in this blog hop.)

King Crimson – “Moonchild”

Echo and The Bunnymen – “The Killing Moon”

R.E.M. – “Man On The Moon”

The Cult – “Brother Wolf, Sister Moon”

What are YOUR favorite songs about, or mentioning the moon?

  1. Good morning, Kim! You and I went with Duran Duran “New Moon On Monday”. I actually do not remember this song when it came out, so it was a fun discovery. Your other song picks, I recognize from my research. There’s quite a few ‘moon’ song titles out there. It’s great having you on the 4M dance floor today. Be safe, stay healthy, and have a boogietastic week, my dear! 😉

    • Kim says:

Oh, there was a LOT to choose from! I love the moon, and songs about the moon.

I’m surprised you didn’t remember “New Moon On Monday” when it first came out. Duran Duran made my early 80s.

  2. Morgan says:

I definitely like REM’s Man on the Moon.
Leann Rimes “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” reminds me of Coyote Ugly and how many times I watched that movie way back when.
That’s all I’ve got for moon songs. 🙂

    • Kim says:

Glad you liked it! I’ve seen Coyote Ugly, but don’t recall the Leann Rimes song. I’ve seen it included in a few posts, though!

    • Kim says:

Thank you for your kind words. That is a beautiful song! I have a bit of King Crimson in my car as well…they sound pretty good in there!
