The Twenties just roared in like…

wait…we are calling this new decade The Roaring Twenties, right? If so, I certainly approve. It’s one of my favorite vintage eras for fashion, beauty, housewares, and architecture. It certainly ticks all the boxes, what with it’s Dapper gentlemen (and high-stylin’ gangsters!) in wingtip shoes, Flapper girls in their beaded dresses and turbans throwing back bathtub gin and dancing the night away, and ART DECO everything!

So, I really meant to get end-of-year and decade review posts up before the end of last year. But everyone at work was sick toward the end of last year, and it finally caught up to me. I’ve been sick for going on three weeks now. Hopefully I’m almost rid of it, but that’s where my time went. My time was spent working and sleeping through the illness and fighting off massive estate-administration-induced anxiety attacks. And now the time for decade wrap-ups and year-in-review posts is gone, though I might still pick up a memory and run with it from time to time.

Due mostly to being sidelined by illness, this is the first I’ve attempted to blog in this new year and decade. It’s a multipurpose mission statement of sorts (more writing, more reading, more commenting, more connecting), but it’s also Monday, and Mondays around here mean MUSIC!

It’s freebie/your choice week at Monday’s Music Moves Me, and I suppose we’ll be seeing a few Rush and perhaps some Dr. Hook posts. Me? I’m just going to share a few of my favorite songs going into this new year. Yes, some (or all) were released last year, but as I still like them, I’m still considering them my first favorite songs of this year!

Starset – “Manifest” I’ve heard that this band is AMAZING live, and I hope I finally get the opportunity to see them this year.

Fozzy – “Nowhere To Run” I loved Chris Jericho as a wrestler and fellow music fan, and love his band!

twenty one pilots – “The Hype” This band is massively popular and I love everything I’ve heard by them. But I think this is my favorite song of theirs – at least for now!

Papa Roach – “Come Around” I know their music isn’t to everyone’s taste, but oh man, what an incredible video. What an incredible band.

Slipknot – “Nero Forte” I always get so, so excited to hear new music (and see new masks!) from them!

Weezer – “The End Of The Game” I will always love Weezer. Period. This song throws me right back to the nineties.

Be sure to head over to Dolly’s to see what everyone else is listening to this week!

Be sure to stop by on the 15th for my return to Battle of the Bands! And also on Thursday for Mama Kat’s Pretty Much World Famous Writer’s Workshop. It feels good to be back in the game again.

What are YOU listening to this week? Has 2020 knocked YOU around a bit already?

I’m all for calling it the roaring twenties. Why not? Sorry you’ve been sick. Everyone around me seems to be dealing with it here, too. This is kind of good for me, as teachers out sick is how I get work. But… Knock on wood. Fingers crossed. Any other good luck charm you have. I have maintained my wellness so far…

I am glad you have been able to steer clear of the crud. You are right in the middle of the petri dish where a lot of it grows (and as a retail worker, I suppose I am, too.) I’m getting better, but still exhausted from coughing and blowing my nose and trying to rid my body of what shouldn’t be there. Sorry, that was a gross visual. But true! At least when I was sick, I was sleeping so soundly somehow. Recovery is worse than the illness.
